Elktoberfest Success Makes Marketing Students Proud

The next generation of Wisconsin marketing professionals out of Lakeland University have showcased their impressive skills before they even crossed the graduation stage.
Earlier this year, an ingenious partnership between Lakeland University and the Elkhart Lake Chamber gave a class of 15 marketing students the incredible opportunity to plan and execute their marketing strategy for a real-life tourism event. Last weekend, their efforts finally came to fruition during the three-day "Elktoberfest" celebration from September 23 - 25.
The marketing students dove into the challenge of promoting Elktoberfest with enthusiasm. They researched Oktoberfest celebrations worldwide and brainstormed a variety of fresh ideas for the local festival, including a Root Beer Garden, a Dunk Tank and even a guest appearance by The Milwaukee Brewers Famous Racing Sausages®. Live music, a petting zoo, and a 5K run/walk were also among the activities festival-goers enjoyed over the weekend.
The process of researching, imagining, planning, and executing an entire marketing campaign in a real-world scenario gave the Lakeland students the chance to apply their education outside of the classroom -- and they more than rose to the challenge. Elktoberfest 2022 was an undeniable success. The students even helped the Elkhart Lake Chamber to write the application for the Travel Wisconsin JEM Grant -- which they won.
If the Lakeland University marketing program is any indication, it would seem that the future of marketing in Wisconsin is in good hands!
